Dorothy Allen McNeill was born February 7, 1912 in Laurel, Ohio to Moreton and Bertha Simmons McNeill.

Christine Kattus Bolten was told by her mother, Dorothy, that she didn't get along with her mother, Bertha. In the 8th grade, Dorothy became employed by the "Rock-A-Bye Babysitting Agency" as a mother's helper. She was able to move off of the family property in Laurel and became a live-in mother's helper in the Cincinnati area.

By high school age, Dorothy went to live with her sister, Ruth, and her husband in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended high school there. Dorothy returned to Cincinnati during her high-school years and attended Lockland High and graduated from Norwood High in Norwood, Ohio in 1932.

She worked various jobs after high school, including the Thrifty Drug Store in downtown Cincinnati and for Crosley radio, soldering parts for radios during WWII. Dorothy married a man named Glenn, December 14, 1936, who she divorced. They had no children.

Dorothy married Erwin (Erv) J. Kattus (b. Nov. 12, 1897) on September 29, 1939.* In 1940, they were living at 3786 Vine Street in Cincinnati. They had two daughters, Morjorie Ellen (b. Feb. 24th, 1942) and Christine Anne (b. Nov. 5, 1951). They moved to Mt. Washington and rented the house at 2217 Suffolk St, just off of Corbly, while Marjorie and Christine were girls. Erv died November 19, 1978.

Dorothy Allen McNeill Kattus died July 7, 1986 of colon cancer. Daughter Christine was by her side. She was is interred at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
