Frank Kattus was one of 8 children born to Valentine and Catherin in 1862. He married Amelia Brum (born in Alsace-Lorraine, France) and they had 7 children - Albert Adolph, Joseph, Alma, Amelia, Frank Jr., Valentine (Val) and Erwin (Erv). They suffered the loss of Joseph, who was an infant at the time of his death, from bronchitis. Frank Jr. died at the age of 16.

They either built, or at some point, bought the building at 1808 Linn Street (built in 1902) in Cincinnati’s East End neighborhood. Frank and son, Val, ran a butcher shop on the lower level and the family (including Irv) lived on the upper levels. Val married in 1905 and likely moved out. However, Val continued to run the butcher shop with dad, Frank, until and after he refired.

Frank Kattus died June 8, 1933. He is interred at St. Mary's cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
The shop/home at 1808 Linn Street was sold by Amelia in 1937. In all, Val ran the butcher shop for 50 years, so this would indicate that even after the building was sold, Val continued to rent the space for the shop.

1808 Linn St. record of ownership transfer
After 1808 Linn St was sold, the remaining family still living at Linn Street (probably just mother Amelia and daughter, Alma) moved in with son, Albert, and family at 3562 Zumstein Ave in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Amelia Brum Kattus died the following year and was interred on St. Mary's cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 1940 census lists the following members of the Kattus family at 3562 Zumstein Avenue: Head - Albert A Kattus (Amelia's son/Erv's brother), sister – Alma Kattus, his wife – Matilda Kattus, and children - sons – Hal and Bob, and daughter, Carol.

It appears that 3562 Zumestein was vacated by the family sometime between 1940 and 1946. The family moved to 2509 Erie Ave. It seems as though Alma may have found her own home, but daughter, Corol, is listed at this address in 1946 in the birth announcement for her daughter. Amelia (Albert and Erwin's sister) is also listed at this address at the time of her death.
